Hiya and happy friday! As you know i’ve been globetrotting of late, so if you have dropped me music or an email i’m massively behind. Starting two new projects has put me back a bit too, and I can tell you a bit more about one of them before I fill you in on whats on this weeks show..

I’ve been a long time fan of The 405 and I’m excited to say that my first column for The 405 launched this week! I’ll be writing regularly about whats rocking my live world, where music is taking me in the world and the earworms that just won’t vacate my head! If you’re down at Parklife Festival this weekend i’ll be spinning a few tunes early doors tomorrow in VIP to get you in the party mood..

I’m back on the wonderful Bolton FM, after deciding two hours a week simply wasn’t enough to share the content i’m sent, the wonderful team at Bolton have let me return to the comfy studio chair to enlighten ears between 10pm and midnight every wednesday night so make sure you tune in on 96.5fm or http://www.boltonfm.com, theres even a dedicated app or tunein radio too! I’m a bit behind with sorting all the listen again and playlists out for this, but I promise it’s high on the priority list, unfortunately with a few other things alongside it

Fridays as usual is Amazing Radio day, where you can hear me between 1-3pm airing the best in new music, as well as interviews and features of music interest to enlighten your ears as always. Theres a proper northern bias to the show today, call it a celebration of YEY I GOT TO SPEND MORE THAN TWO DAYS AT HOME THIS WEEK! Leeds band Heart-Ships in conversation and The Wirrals The Sundowners on the bandstand giving kudos to some local bands.. They announced their new single this week and I can’t wait to give it a spin!

This weeks tipster Vonpip shows the mutual blog-radio appreciation by tipping a side project of a band he first heard me spinning on the show. He is also up to his old tricks as usual, this week appearing SHAKEN NOT STIRRED..

I know, I know. The prodigal returns. I haven’t written since the 10th of May and I’ve been globetrotting with a few stolen days at work since trying to keep on top of everything. I’ve been consistently on air, but of course you probably know that already!From the warehouse parties of Brooklyn to the Psychdelic Ranch of Austin, theres not been a dull moment. Radio and DJ’ing skills were thrown down in Brighton and Barcelona taught me a thing or two about layering tights. But NO FEAR I’m back and i’ve a bag of tricks to share with you..

News soon on a couple of new projects that i’m involved in which are pretty interesting.. 31/05/13 Amazing Radio 1-3pmI’m feeling a little sniffly today, is it hayfever or an air conditioning induced cold? Who knows?! I’m going to struggle on regardless, dropping a mix of aces new music as always though so don’t fret!

On the show today The Sundowners in conversation. There are two Skelly’s in the band and they rehearse in the ‘Coral Cave’ which will give you an indication of their grounding. But if you’re a fan of Haim, or excited by The Byrds, Tom Petty or Fleetwood Mac, then you should definitely make sure you check out the interview.

Oh hiiii, it’s friday and tomorrow it’s Recordstore Day AND the day I get on a flight to NYC and miss buying that Tame Impala debut EP on vinyl that I desperately want… *cries*

On the upside I get to spend 2.5 weeks in the U S of A, Firstly in New York where Frankie Rose has offered to give me her tour of Brooklyn, then to Austin where i’m meeting up with Love Inks and Feathers for hangs as well as heading to Austin Psychfest! Then onto San Francisco where I’m going to see the sights, not get locked up in Alcatraz and head for hangs with Papa Slumber from Slumberland Records, oh and then via a flight booking mishap i’ll be hanging in Philadelphia for 13 hours where i’m going to attempt to crawl up the ‘Rocky’ steps. Hopefully there will be many tales to be told! However, in the meantime that means I won’t be answering emails, coming to gigs or social networking more than holiday snaps.

HOWEVER, before I head off I’ve put together three ace radio shows for you. The first:

Kicking off with brand new music from Thumpers, it’s not out until June, but it’s in your ears today!

Today i’ll be chatting to JD McPherson on the show, one of the coolest cats around without a doubt. He’s a HUGE fan of Manchester and he tells us about his favourite Manchester bands, recording album number 2, working in Jimmy’s analogue studio and more..!

I’ll also be joined by Natalie Findlay who joins us on the bandstand this week to tell us about a raft of cool bands she’s been getting giddy over lately.

This weeks tipster in John Freeman and he has done it again and made me pronounce the unpronounceable. Another stunning female vocal that is new to my ears and hopefully to yours.

I’m on holiday! and so are YOU!

Yes this weeks show takes a virtual tour across the US and you will be following in my footsteps as we land in New York and explore some of the most exhilarating sounds of New York, Brooklyn and Williamsburg.

On the next stop we will be heading to the music capital of Texas, Austin.. There will be BBQ, rays and the best psychadelic music around as we tread the boards of Austin Psychfest and play some of the finest acts playing at this years festival.

After the mayhem and late nights of Austin, we’ll head toward the chilled vibes of California, taking in LA band Fidlar‘s musical tips on the bandstand this week before arriving in San Francisco where we will talk to local Christopher Owens about his debut solo record ‘Lysandre’. We’ll also pick up some of his tips, but on where we should head if we’re ever in San Francisco..

Well I’ve been on holiday for nearly two weeks by this point and to be honest I’m sure I’m loving every second. But theres a nagging dull ache deep in my soul and you know what it is? I MISS MANCHESTER. I miss the warm northern personalities, a nice warm cup of tea and the rain.. well maybe I was lying about the latter!

But I am missing the music. Not one week goes by without seeing a fresh talented new act on the streets of fair Manchester and as such i’m going to take this opportunity to get a little homesick and play some of the freshest sounds from the north west from the last few months in one jam packed show..

Findlay will join me in conversation, Egyptian Hip Hop will tip a north west artist on the bandstand and Von Pip also keeps things northern in his own special way..

On the show at Christmas Los Angeles band Fidlar told me about what Christmas means to them, they also told me about the mother of all cocktails, the ‘blushing santa’. On todays show they join me to talk about crowd surfing bouncers, playing sold out shows and generally having a merry old time!

This week Taffy announced their second record ‘Lixiviate’ is due out on June 17th on the Club AC30 record label! I caught up with the Japanese four piece when they headed to the UK’s shores at the back end of 2013 to wrap up their promotions of acclaimed debut ‘Caramel Sunset’ and you can hear us chatting on the show this week about it…

Not only are The 1975 kicking up a storm at sxsw as we speak, they are also perched on the bandstand this week. Matthew is not short of enthusiasm for new music and reels off a whole list of artists to check out as well as letting us know about someone he may be working with in the near future!
